Securing your Reloadly account with multi-factor authentication. A guide to keeping your Reloadly account safe with multi-factor authentication Raphael Ugwu.
At Reloadly, we’ve taken additional steps to ensure that every user’s account is secure and accessible only to them. That is made possible through our 2FA, two-factor authentication infrastructure, which works with multiple authentication providers. In this article, you’ll learn how to secure your Reloadly account using our five-step two-factor authentication feature.
As part of our commitment to keeping your account secure from March 13th, 2023, you will be required to use two-factor authentication (2FA) to access your Reloadly account. Once you enable the 2FA, you will secure all the information related to your account, such as your API Client ID and your API client secret.
What is two-factor authentication?
Simply put, two-factor authentication (2FA) establishes access to an online account or computer system that requires the user to provide two different types of information. It gives the system you’re trying to access additional evidence that you are the account's rightful owner.
Five steps to enabling 2FA on your Reloadly account.
- On your Reloadly dashboard, navigate to the Security section:
2. As shown below, you will see a section detailing how 2FA works and the security applications supported by Reloadly’s infrastructure (Google Authentication, Authy, Auth0 Guardian, and DUO). Click on the "Enable" button; this enables two-factor authentication on your account.
4. As an additional security measure, you will also get an email from the Reloadly team informing you of this change.
5. After enabling the 2FA feature, you will be redirected to log in. When using the 2FA feature for the first time, there will be an option on the screen to scan a QR code using one of the authentication applications mentioned earlier:
The following apps can be used to set up an authentication process and scan the QR code:
Why are we enforcing 2FA?
Our top priority at Reloadly is keeping your account safe and secure. That is why we are implementing a series of security measures, the first of which is the implementation of 2FA.
A password alone may not be enough to protect against persistent hackers. Malware, brute force, data breaches, technical hacks, and phishing attempts can all be used to steal passwords. If your password is compromised, 2FA will add an extra layer of security. Verification requires using your mobile phone. The 2FA makes it harder to compromise your account and helps us to protect your data.
Summary
Keeping your financial data secure is essential; passwords in the wrong hands can prove fatal. With two-factor authentication, Reloadly ensures your account is safe and accessible to just you.
